Elementary Curriculum (Ages 6-12)

Our elementary program at Bossier Christian Academy offers a continuum built on the foundation of early childhood education.

The Prepared Environment

As children enter this new stage of development, our environment provides:

Integrated Learning:

  • Arts, sciences, geography, history, and language are combined to evoke imagination and abstraction.

  • Knowledge is presented as a part of a large-scale narrative that unfolds the origins of the earth, life, human communities, and modern history within the context of life’s wholeness.

Scientific Exploration:

  • Formal scientific languages of zoology, botany, anthropology, geography, geology, and more are introduced.

  • Timelines, picture charts, and other visual aids provide overviews of each discipline’s first principles.

Mathematics Curriculum:

  • Concrete materials reveal arithmetic, geometric, and algebraic correlations, fostering a deep understanding of mathematical concepts.

Montessori-Trained Educators:

  • Our teachers are “enlightened generalists,” who integrate all subjects into a cohesive intellectual tradition.

Research and Study:

  • Emphasis is placed on open-ended research and in-depth study using primary and secondary sources.

  • Community building is fostered through regular class meetings where children collaboratively solve problems.

Conflict Resolution and Community Engagement:

Materials and Methodology

As with our early childhood program, Montessori materials in the elementary classroom are designed to evoke imagination, aid abstraction, and foster a comprehensive worldview. Interdisciplinary studies combine geological, biological, and anthropological sciences in the study of natural history and world ecology, enhancing the child’s understanding of the human task and purpose.
